Because...

there is no joy quite like pursuing the hare of curiosity into a bramble of color and scaring out a gaggle of flying curves;

my eye is like a lover and I enjoy learning what pleases her;

there is delight in exploring structure: seeing where it holds, where it fails, where it commands the attention and where it loses me;

desperate for a breath, a look, any sign that the Beloved is still near, I search the curves, the colors --try to shake God out of my brush, collect love in little puddles, rivers of light.
